Well, by launching many rockets burning hundreds of tons of kerosene each, SpaceX kinda offsets Tesla's clean energy efforts.
I'm not going to criticize that particular aircraft, no. I respect the effort it took to get it up in the air. But everyone is building an electric, pilotless vehicle for ride sharing, which also happens to be an oversized RC multicopter. Like trying to put Tesla, Uber and DJI products and business models into the blender and get guaranteed receipt for success. I'd love to see more thinking outside of context here.
Here is a thing about Robinhood: it does advertising in ineligible countries, apps are allowed to be downloaded, profiles must be filled in down to the last field and only then there is a message saying that you're not allowed to use the app because it's unavailable (really?) in your country. Guerilla data collection at its finest.
Except, they don't work with actual source code. An engineering team responsible for adaptation for certain market, most likely works in calibration space, that's it, just data (flags, thresholds and tables, thousands of them). To access this data they rely on ASAP2 description databases which are simply very large text files [1] containing ROM addresses, parameter names, etc. I don't know the whole VW workflow, but can imagine how one could define a set of switching parameters for cheating, and then delete their definitions, leaving these parameters invisible.
I'm sorry if it's dumb question, but how could one perform dictionary attack without having access to the hash table? From the login page? Unlikely, it will lock itself after a few unsuccesful attempts. Yet article implies that if password is weak everything else doesn't matter.

Their website says it's "musical.ly is a social media platform for creating and sharing short videos." I think this abstract "short" word explains a lot: Youtube videos lose a lot of views, because Youtube tells how long they are. Impatient kids are like "Nah, it's too long". But by promising the videos are short, you can probably make viewers to spend even more time with an app, watching many shorter videos instead of a long one. No data to prove it, just gut feeling.
It also has a lot to do with "being born into context" [0] of money. I can imagine kids observing good skills (like money management or business communication) of their parents will develop these skills for themselves rather easily.
Which gen Miata? IIRC NA had something like 5.5x14" wheels which are tiny. But if we look at bigger production car wheels even modest 8x18" could weigh > 30lbs.
Second, (unsprung mass/sprung mass) ratio is the thing that counts, not the mass itself. So, while 40 lbs wheel is terrible for the Miata, it might be quite ok for the vehicle twice Miata's weight.
Large outrunner motors like Emrax aren't much heavier than typical cast alloy wheels. Assuming wheel-motor eliminates disc brake components (sounds scary, right?) assembly will probably be even lighter.
We need small cross section tube transport for last mile delivery. Fully automated, so we can call it "Internet for transporting physical objects". Or even "Hyperloop for parcels", whatever.

Never saw a separate fuel flow sensor in an automotive application, but fuel injector is technically an orifice flow meter in this calculation method (pressure differential is constant and you calculate how much fuel is flown through orifice by measuring time it is open). Sure, when orifice size is reduced by lacquer depositions or dirt it will cause measurement error. But it will also cause increasing fuel trims (to the point when CEL goes on) and bad driving performance when fuel trims don't apply
