Oh really? Specifically, which one? Give me a link. Keep in mind the latest inflation reading today was 3.33%y/y. This is also an optimistic reading -- if you use the exact same calculation the fed used back in the 80s inflation would be at 10% (many government obligations such as TIPS are linked to CPI and, as such, they are motivated to make that number appear low).
Risk free savings used to be much easier when the dollar couldn't be freely printed. Sure, there were times of moderate deflation and moderate inflation, but overall the average was 0. Furthermore, labor was able to consistently achieve wage gains. Those days ended in the 70s (and is evidence by the famous wage-vs-productivity charts). Also, you're conveniently ignoring the fact that fiat currency has made it possible for governments to print money to pay for war instead of needing to levy a tax on its citizens (something which would frequently be met with protest).
Please, enlighten me. Show me a risk free asset that pays above the rate of inflation (don't forget to consider any taxes you might owe on interest and dividends!).
I love how the USA is completely freaking out about Russia yet has become totally silent on Citizens United. Gee, I wonder which is the bigger source of propaganda...
Obama...that was the president who authorized the FBI to infiltrate the Occupy Wallstreet movement and paint the protesters as rapists and weirdos, right? Democrats who think highly of him are no better than Republicans who think highly of Reagan.
Counter-counter point: the valley is filled with over inflated egos and developers whose sole business model is stealing people’s private data to sell ads. They tend to think tech wouldn’t exist without them when in reality their only contribution to the world is a few crappy web frameworks.
Edit: looks like I struck a nerve with the valley script kiddies. Keep on downvoting. You’re the reason n-gate.com was created.
Good. The Chinese government subsidizes and protects many industries within their economy. Additionally, workers in the United State have been forced to race to the bottom with China. I, for one, am happy to see some protectionism.
There was no “Russian meddling” in the election. Stop parroting nonsense without evidence.
Hillary did cheat though. Her campaign directly collaborated with correct the record - last time I checked coordinating with a super pac was illegal. She also directly worked with the media to spread progaganda.
Thank god Trump won. Hillary would have been more of the same.
Also, it’s hilarious that we’ve all stopped caring about Citzens United now. Corporations influencing our elections is A-OK!
Sure, the margin was slim, but Hillary has no one to blame but herself. Scapegoating Facebook keeps all of Hillary’s misdeeds out of the limelight. Perhaps if she was a better candidate I wouldn’t have wrote in Bernie. I, for one, am happy to have Trump over her.
Edit: ah yes, let me feel the downvotes hackernews. We can’t have anyone disliking Hillary here!
