Frequently, the rental car facilities are some distance from the airport, and the airport is just gatekeeping a bus service to the off-site rental facility. I don't think that land that facility lies on is a very scarce resource.
Having a driver meet you with a car at the terminal is a much better experience IMO, whether it's a taxi, a Lyft, or a rental. If the pickup area is too congested, the airport should address that problem directly with a toll to access that area. A targeted ban that happens to help incumbents in a particular industry doesn't seem like the best way.
Driving is work for me - I don't want to pay extra to do work. Also, a lot of the time you need to ride a bus to get between the airport and the rental car place, which is often a slower and generally worse experience that Uber or Lyft.
Any particular reason you want wood? I've found the folding metal frames you can buy on Amazon to be fantastic. Cheap, easy to assemble, super stable, no creaking, minimal profile, lots of under-bed storage, easy to move.

Interesting... completely unrelated to the recent issues, a few months ago, I wanted to log in to Facebook from a mobile browser so I could follow a link without installing the app.
I also ran into a challenging captcha and a page saying my account had been “locked”, but I was still able to log in.
After logging in, I received a phone call from Palo Alto. When I let the call go to voicemail, it left a message consisting only of a recorded voice saying “goodbye”. Perhaps this was some poorly-implemented two-factor auth, but in context, I felt like Facebook was intentionally making the experience of using a mobile browser unpleasant to encourage use of the app.
Sounds like the delete your account page has similar “issues”.
From my experience optimizing signup funnels, it made me wonder if somebody is doing that work in reverse here. Are they getting a bonus based on what percentage of people abandon the account deletion process?
Maybe I’m just being paranoid, and optimizing those flows is simply not a high priority. But for a tech-focused company that tends to operate at a pretty high level, it felt like they are actively making things more difficult. Like this was the shittiest experience bright minds could come up with.
This event has me thinking about job of the behind-the-wheel backup driver. They get an easier job than a real driver, at the cost of potentially taking the fall if an accident occurs. I wonder if the pay is better.

It seems that having this kind of information out there would be of benefit to Apple in negotiations with screen manufacturers eg. it could make suppliers more willing to sign a long-term deal at lower rates than they might otherwise, due to the fear of being dumped in the future.
Another potential purpose for such a leak would be to boost the stock price.
