Well, Hubble [1] is most certainly dead. When I read the title I've actually imagined that maybe he had some health condition that was triggered by a northern light. That would be very romantic, even if that doesn't make sense when thinking about it more.

Well you cannot prove he does not live anymore. Maybe he is hiding.
Could you say that again, but wrap it in filler material and advertisements? Maybe start it off with a human-interest vignette
