The article briefly attempted to address the safety concerns, but I feel those homemade rigs were totally unsafe just based on the sheer number of batteries. One battery failure would cause a catastrophic chain reaction and these people are using discarded batteries.
The most ridiculous thing is that Intel never planned for 14-18 core models. They were planning on the 7900x to be the 6950x replacement at the same price, with 2 more cores. Funny how even though the MSRP dropped by over $700 its still not competitive in the slightest compared to Zen. That's how much Intel has been screwing people the last 6-7 years.
