The one question I have for the author is: how? If you split off Google's advertising business and all of the other products into separate companies, they'll all die (and be acquired by another giant). You can play the same game with Facebook: split off their advertising division and the rest will die. These companies depend on a monoculture diet in the strictest sense. Breaking them up would not work.
