It's anecdotal, but unfortunately I'd say that the experience is much the same in single-payer Canada. I have never had a GP who is not trying to rush me out of their office as they seem to get paid by the amount of patients they see, not the quality and depth of care they provide. I now declare I have X questions up front and then work my way through them, ignoring the GP's repeated attempts to bring the appointment to a close before I'm ready.

Health care is massively broken everywhere. I don't know how we move the incentives in the system to quality over quantity.

One thing missing from all of this that sucks real bad about current US healthcare: privacy.

Most doctors have no digital security practices whatsoever, and their privacy policies are basically "we will give your data to dozens of different organizations, and you will sign here to agree to it in full right now or fuck completely off".

Knowing that such a customer-focused experience is actually going to involve privacy is essential.

"We’re outraged if a restaurant makes us wait for a meal, but not if the doctor makes us wait for our healthcare? We’re outraged if the person at a hotel front desk is unfriendly to us—but we shrug and take a seat when that happens at the doctor’s office? It makes no sense."
