Extremely filthy behavior on the CCP's part, though not unexpected. Governments should step up their effort to stand up against their bullying and atrocities.
There’s a great book called Silent Invasion on this matter. The book pertains to Australian but the author provides sources of similar tactics happening in Canada and USA as well.

As a Canadian who has a lot of Asian friends (and likely half-Asian children one day), correctly walking the line of calling out the CCP while making sure to never call out the Chinese people or attract negative externalities for Asian people is a hard balance to keep.
I hope it’ll get simpler to make that distinction with more people educated about the topic. However, I worry a lot that it’ll get more difficult as more attention is brought to the subject because it’s almost impossible to appropriately educate “crowds with pitchforks”.
Meanwhile, the current/increasing political and corporate influence of the CPP the risk[0] just seems too great.

I hate to be that guy but Ben Franklin was talking about something different than this quote is made out to be.
True but you should elaborate on what that thing is.
I can't say I've found that hard. The party isn't the people, and usually if someone is not in mainland China, they aren't all that favourable to the party

I've noticed most China related news/critiques come out of ACHK, Radio Free Asia, epoch times etc. Some of them are no better than Fox news. In the US there are left and right wing media. When it comes to China there is only one biased against China.

No better than Fox News how? A majority of Chinese media are no better than Pravda.
Epoch Times is some seriously fringe radical right wing stuff. Have had it stuffed in my mailbox a few times and it's full of conspiracy theories, anti-lockdown rhetoric, pro-Trump stuff -- the latter of which is pretty bizarre in the context of Canada.

Should foreign influence be tolerated up to the point of a coup?
On China specifically, its influence was fairly limited to its own region and still is to some degree.
However the influence of a great power has never remained untouched, it is simply too tempting to affect matters for your own benefit.
This is one of those really tricky topics that tests the boundaries of words like "misinformation" and "racism".
