Nothing screams ignorance like people who comment on threads like these equating Chinese censorship to Western censorship. Is their censorship in the western world? Absolutely. Are theere authoritarian psudo-dictatorial states in the Western world with a society that is held in informational bondage compared to the rest of the world? Not to my knowledge.
India
> India
India's not in the Western World. And it's also quite a stretch to say that Indians are held in "informational bondage". The only way that'd be even remotely true would be if we take into account the polarizing, biased nature of Indian news media - but that's not uniquely an Indian problem these days.

I have to try
Free Tibet
Taiwan is a country and
Wall Street sold off to CCP on my cheap Xiaomi I just bought
The article said it's not activated by default for western buyers, but that Xiaomi has the ability to remotely enable it. On that note, there is no setting on either Apple or Google phones that lets you tell the phone, "Under no circumstances remotely install or disable software on my device unless I give explicit consent. I paid for this phone with my own money and I own it and control it."
Google and Apple are the real owners of Google and Apple phones. They can install and uninstall whatever they want, whenever they want.

I would love to see some technical details. Where is the censorship happening? If I use, say, firefox, am I impacted?
Do they mean throw away almost all phones made in the last 10 years?
