Requires a https://handcash.io account to earn money, which is bound by KYC etc. I'm happy with Lichess.
It's the logical next step in the saga that is cryptocurrency: have human miners waste their mental CPU cycles.
If no ads and no member fee...where is the money from? I don't quite get it. Nice graphic tho.
Interesting. But there is so much cheating in online chess these days, adding money just seems like trouble.
They say there's money involved, but the statistics paint a different picture:
4,690 Games
625 Players
72.7 K Transactions
$ 0 Volume
I'm not really sure what to make of the ratio of transactions to games... and despite that, zero volume?I think there is a transaction per move, since everything is recorded on the block chain, so the transaction number might represent ~15 moves per game on average, the mean is probably skewed to a lot of people messing around for a few moves then stopping... Or optimizing for a win by stopping early as soon as soon as the odds are against them?
Somebody made money... its now $ 1,040
Did someone win?
Did someone win?
It's a bit funny, the ToS state that players suspected of cheating get their account terminated and must pay back any wins within 90 days.
Problem is, the company is based in Germany and I don't see any way they could possibly enforce the refunding internationally - neither legally nor by technical means.

I believe detection of cheating is becoming quite good at major online sites. Seems like they would need to hold on to winnings for a while after games though iot settle disputes because it does take time.
Do we really have to monetize everything? I opine that social media has become such a cesspool because monetization has become more accessible and lucrative over the last decade.
