Does anyone know if there is any value in reporting spam at Fastmail? Are the reports inputs to the training?

Yes. In fact, it won’t let you enable your “personalized” spam filter until it’s learned at least 200 messages.

If you check the spam folder frequently enough, there is (in my experience) no issue with enabling "spam learning" on the spam folder itself.
