Tell HN: How to Start a Business as a Kid
Today the first day of summer vacation. My kids, son and daughter decided to sell water in our front-yard. We bought 32 pack of water for $6.52. They sold each bottle for 50 cents. 20 bottles were sold on the first day, they decided to donate 30% of the revenue. I'm so proud!

There is a small park in south Denver where numerous bike trails converge. Years back, I once saw a young child selling lemonade there on a day when the temperature was 95F. He was charging 5 dollars for small glasses of lemonade. But it was so hot and there were so many bikers out anyway... he had a line waiting. I have no idea how much money he took home, but I am sure he was having a great day.
What a great start. Congratulations. Please teach them not only about profit but also operating costs. Discuss cost of gas, time etc.
What if they had to hire salespeople. Keep it simple but continue to feed them next steps in running a business. Talk to them about what happens when they get a bad or an upset customer? What would they do? Again, congrats
Thank you for the comment!
I will definitely discuss with them the things you have mentioned.
