I wonder how many actually want to loose those buttons? The new “wheel” design already turned me off the new Tesla. I root for the competitors to up their game on performance which still seems unique to Model S.
None of the main car makers can compete with Plaid, but the Polestar 5 on 800v architecture beats the Performance trim by 10-15% (872 vs 778hp).
At what price, though?
Model 3 Performance does 0-60 in ~3.4 seconds (3.1 seconds with 1-foot rollout, if you allow for that "cheat") for $63K.
I don't know of any other EVs that can beat that performance at that price point. As far as ICE goes, a Corvette can be bought for $64K that will do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, but then you get a car that gets only 24 mpg highway and yells to every cop within a mile when you're gunning it. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about having that much power being applied to only the rear tires.

Polestar 5 won't be available for years. They just released Polestar 3, and that won't be delivered for a year, so the 5 is maybe three years away.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is the obvious competitor to Model S Plaid, or maybe Audi eTron GT.

Ok, so facelift after 5 years of production. That's nothing unusual.
"There can be only one." (Lithium ion battery sputters and sparks)
