In case anyone got confused like me, the story is not about the Salesforce Tower, the tallest building in SF. The company has a 15-year lease on half of that building, and I doubt they would be able to unload that much space at any reasonable price in the current market. They are leaving Salesforce East, one of several nearby buildings where the company has also leased some floors.
This is why I read the comment section of HN before clicking the link.
It makes sense that Salesforce would want to reduce their office space after laying off ~10% of their workers, but title of the article really should be changed to reflect that the fact that they are not vacating the Salesforce tower.
> Salesforce is ditching the last of its remaining office space at 350 Mission St., listing 104,051 square feet for sublease at the tower known as Salesforce East.
SFDC is moving out of a smaller building, but not the Salesforce Tower which is at 415 Mission.

For clarity, they’re leaving Salesforce East, which is next door to the more widely known Salesforce tower.
Fittingly, Salesforce's motto is "aloha!", a Hawaiian term that can be used to express both "hello" and "goodbye."

I’ll forever associate “aloha” with a scene from Locke & Key;

Also seems appropriate to the circumstances.

This seems like a corollary to Betteridge's law of headlines. If the article was about the Salesforce Tower, the headline would've said 'Salesforce Tower'.
