Btw the AMA with reddit admins happening right now is going as well as expected.

If I'm understanding, it seems the only real concessions being made are maintaining free API access for low traffic users, mod tools, bots, and non commercial accessibility tools.
If they actually make good on their word, that's not too bad of an arrangement. Though I still don't think many devs will trust reddit after this though, the damage is done.
I do hope some of the major apps will opensource and let you enter your own API key at some point.

Reddit is going to lock down who can use an API key
One can always reverse whatever internal API the main site uses, and/or steal the API key from the official app.
If they really want to be dicks they can limit it to only accept connections from their official signed app.
How?
As an aside, if anyone has any good resources on inspecting cert-pinned traffic using an Android VM and Frida, I’m all ears.

I mod a sub of 2M but our community is so toxic, we don’t think any of the users give a shit. Most of us mod on Apollo so I’m sure the sub will get a little less moderation (which is probably a win for users anyway). Most of the mod complaints about their automated power mod tools not having API access have been resolved according to spez.
Can you give a hint on the subject matter of the sub?
Well they hate trans people so I guess that should give you a hint about what the sub is.
I don’t hate anyone and the sub has nothing to do with autogynephilia.
You sound like you spend a lot of time around 4chan users too, definitely narrowing it down
If it makes you feel better to think I’m fringe and not just the more vocal portion of the vast majority of people, then you keep living in your bubble.

I know you're fringe, honestly it's weird having a cis person thinking about trans people so much. But even if LGBTQ support was in the minority, which I don't think it is; I'd still have morality on my side, which is all I've ever needed.
Fortunately this lines up perfectly with my schedule.
About to roll a J and kick back probably gonna browse the web and some of my favorite subreddits.
I have work on Monday.
Beyond seeing this post on HN, I'd have no idea this "protest" is happening, and to be fair I'll have forgotten about it by Sunday.
