The earlier story was the denial of the preliminary injunction which was appealed. This story is about the denial of the appeal, or roughly thereabouts.
So not technically a dupe.

Not a dupe, read the posted article closer and compare to the link you posted.
Fair enough not a dupe, sorry. But the discussion is much of the same and there's lots over there
Should never have happened. Antitrust everywhere. Microsoft owns too much, and they are going to keep everything on Windows and Xbox.
When it comes to gaming Microsoft definitely doesn’t own too much these days. Thanks to Valve and CodeWeavers most Windows games are playable on Linux now. With the popularity of the Steam Deck, there is a lot of incentive to ensure that games run on Linux.
The situation with Xbox is even worse. Sony is way ahead of them, and has been for 2 generations now.
Microsoft has never held a weaker position in the consumer market.

Microsoft now owns all of Activision Blizzard, ZeniMax (Bethesda), and a flurry of small studios they've gobbled up over the years.
They are definitely the GM of video games, crippling and gobbling up the competition and making some horrible products. They have all the incentive to keep all of these games on DirectX now. They will corner their own market and try to get people on Xbox.
I've never heard anything good about the PS5 recently. There's almost no games for it that don't already run better on PC. My PS5 is a $600 Bloodborne machine. The AAA games are garbage cinematic experiences with gaming as an afterthought. I'm playing old PS1 games because these new games are so shallow.
If there's some global numbers that people think this is a great thing, I've yet to see them.

Microsoft owns the Windows APIs that Valve emulates, as they don't manage to convince game developers targeting Android to also bother with GNU/Linux.
I'm not surprised, given the fragmented nature of Linux in terms of distro, packaging, and libraries. Given the low number of Linux gamers, there is probably no business case to deal with the support effort.
Don't worry, PlayStation and Nintendo have enough exclusives to keep their 1st and 2nd place in the console wars.
What’s the word on the UK situation? Just ignore that market? I would but I’m curious what direction its going
Microsoft has agreed to suspend its appeal, whilst they privately negotiate.
There is speculation that Microsoft may diverse its Cloud Gaming service in the UK. Notably Australia and New Zealand have not approved the acquisition either, but will likely provide conditional approval based on the UK arrangement.
I expect it will all be over by Tuesday.
