China is and has been for sometime the single greatest threat to world peace and security. To be fair, the other hemisphere will say the same about the United States. All things being equal, I'm more worried about China than anyone else.
Why do you think that? Over the last couple decades China absorbed a few neighboring regions (namely Hong Kong and Tibet) and made a bunch of investments in small countries. Meanwhile we (the US) destroyed Afghanistan for no real reason, blew Iraq up for fun, forestalled all the real climate negotiations, polluted space with tiny satellites, nearly caused ourselves a civil war, and unleashed AI for the lolz. What had China done that could be seen as equally destabilizing?
You don't seem biased at all
As an American living through all that, it's hard not to be. China has been the bogeyman as long as I've been alive, but it's my own country that scares me the most.
The US is really good at distracting the public with jingoism and foreign enemies. We're really bad at cleaning up after ourselves, whether in war or at home (at least since WW2).

"Unleashed AI"? Really? I don't know what you think has happened, but we've just barely got realistic chatbots. Skynet is nowhere near invented yet.
GPT-3 bots have been a thing for a while, and have been discussed here on HN heavily -- long before Chat-GPT was a thing.
And if you don't think nation-state level actors have had those for a while now, to include the US, China, India, Iran, Israel, et al, then I have a bridge to sell you.

If "China, India, Iran, Israel, et al" have had AI for a while, the US didn't really "unleash" it, did they?
It's more the international jobs impacts I'm concerned about in that case

The hacking gap.
Quality v. quantity.
1000 drones vs 1 genius that can see the 0-day.

What makes you think china has lower quality hackers?
Plus it's entirely possible that anywhere from 10-50% of the hacking team in Shanghai studied at Stanford, UBC, Carnegie Mellon, et al.
So, the Israeli companies?

> China already has a bigger hacking program than every other major nation combined. In fact, if each one of the FBI's cyber agents and intelligence analysts focused on China exclusively, Chinese hackers would still outnumber our cyber personnel by at least 50:1.
