My friends mother took her car Saturday afternoon to a stretch of Bloor Street around Runnymede to do some shopping. She parked her car, got a parking slip, went in the store for about 15 minutes and her car was gone. She was confused because there was another car in her spot and she started to question her sanity. But it turned out that it really was stolen. Insurance company found it a couple of hours later in Mississauga because it had an tracking device. This is like the 3rd time the vehicle (Lexus) has been stolen.
Since there are no consequences to car theft in Toronto, it is a highly lucrative career...

Toronto has become an absolute shit hole to live in. There is nothing going on and nothing to do. City is dying and affordability has a lot to do with it. Anyone who thinks it's a world class city has never been anywhere. Place is actually a dump. Crime everywhere, mental illness everywhere, shitty transit system, incredibly expensive and everything is just getting worse not better. Just saying.

This just brings more criminals into the city and increases theft and more crime. Why? If you catch a thief in the act, you now have a much higher chance of a violent encounter.
It's also sad that pretty much any sort of defense is illegal in Toronto, giving more rights to criminals and less rights to innocent victims.
It's almost better to be a criminal...

So much for not needing guns because, "the police will protect you."
