Smart products always have been the dumb choice. Simple outweighs complex with minimal feature improvements every time.
Sewing machines are a great example. Perfected mechanically, now available with screens. The mechanical part can easily outlive the electronics.
Electronics are consumables / disposables unfortunately. Tho we could make them much more reliable if we cared to.
