I think Nvidia, Microsoft and Apple all see the increasing likelihood that the future of AI isn't in big (and divisive) data centre inference, but on device instead.

I completely agree. Plus, pushing inference on-device makes it vastly safer. Keeping everything local solves the biggest privacy and security concerns of routing sensitive data through the cloud right now.
