As someone that doesn’t listen to radio a lot, but when I do it’s FM only what do we loose without AM? This article doesn’t give a single reason to argue why AM should be preserved.
The last thing I want is a webpage being able to access bluetooth, notifications or any sensor data. No, more permission dialogs is also not what I want.
Wasn't aware of specific rules around this in the Netherlands and this definitely didn't come up in my drivers exam. The only place I heard about this is foreign media over the past years.
However something that does happen in the Netherlands is that kids get taught to pay attention and look around before opening the door of a car, no matter what hand you use. This is something my parents kept insisting over and over. Obviously only anecdotal but I expect this to be the real reason accidents like this are minimal. Combined with having a cycling culture and safer infrastructure where often the cycle lane is separated from parking spaces by some distance to make this impossible.
> Apple last fall started replacing Intel processors in the iPhone and iPad with the house-designed M1 chips, which eat less power and let the mobile devices run the same apps as Macs.
Close to zero progress in electrifying European produced cars. I would say unions are the cause for the delay resisting any change away from skills their members have, but obsoleted by electric cars with 1/10 the number of parts required.
Which doesn’t mean they have to provide access for free, they are most likely allowed to ask a fee for that.
From the same website you link [1]:
“Does anyone refuse tracking cookies? Then you still need to give this person access to your website or app, for example after payment.” (google translated)
If San Jose was designed to benefit its residents it fails miserably at it. Most cities around the world of a similar population are easily way more pleasant and convenient to live in.
‘What is "one plus five"? It is the wood construction, "stick-built" urban mixed-use building, exactly five stories tall, erected on a concrete podium. The first level capped by the concrete deck is retail, parking, meeting rooms or amenities and the floors above it are apartments, condos, or dormitories erected under the 3A construction type classification of the building model code IBC.’
If there’s no way to check ownership any properly resigned malicious apk would still not be distinguished from a real version.
According to the comments below currently the only way to notice a malicious but signed app would be updating an existing version from the play store. That requires access to the play store and installing an app from there first.
Allowing random 3rd parties to publish high profile apps stolen from the Play store seems a very bad idea. Especially if the OS doesn’t check apk signature against that same play store.
Note all the high profile apps like Google Photos, Nest, WhatsApp, Instagram? None of these have been uploaded by Google, FB, etc. These could easily have been modified to include additional malicious code to steal your personal data.
None of this is mentioned of course in the press. But it seems like this company mainly survives on copyright infringement and serving malicious apps.
