The real irony is that the Meta question was deleted instead of being answered.
It just seems like there are so many people with vote-to-close permissions that it's statistically likely that some 4 of them will have a nit to pick with any question you ask.
I wonder if making it easier for millions of people to have quicker access to larger social graphs isn't the cultural equivalent of curing cancer or privatized space travel. The effects may not be measurable but lives are undeniably enriched by easing the flow of communication. Even if it's just cat pictures (what's wrong with cats?)
I don't hate to shop and I don't need you to dress me. Your branding is insulting and pretty sexist.
EDIT:
Here's a selection of quotes that just scream "math class is hard!"
"Guys hate to shop."
Some guys hate to shop, some guys love to shop.
"There’s no way a normal man can find a way to pull it all together."
So men who can figure out how to dress themselves in the morning are freaks.
"(oh yeah, and he can specify how many items he wants at the outset, so as not to overwhelm)"
Don't worry your pretty little head, we wouldn't want you to be overwhelmed!
"...you’re not in the least excited about it, and somewhat fearful that what you do select will be horrible and you’ll offend your wife, a family member, the woman you’re taking out on a date, or whatever."
Notice how only women are judging the way men dress?
What a lot of people are missing is that a reflection tool like this probably requires a lot of development just to stay current with the newest versions of .NET. An OSS clone would not be a write-once ordeal, it would have to be a continuously active project.
This is a great idea and the execution is just short of perfect. Two complaints:
1. The app icons load very slowly, I have to sit there for a minute sometime and wait for the placeholder icons to go away. The icon is the first impression users have with apps, they should always load first. If downloading little icons takes a long time, how's the bodega going to handle serving me a 100mb fart app?
2. The apps don't have the prices marked next to their icons on any of the main screens. Show me the money.
