I kept telling myself “I’ll pray in 5 minutes.” Then 5 minutes became 30.

So I made Better Prayer.

It’s a free (non profit) desktop prayer app that doesn’t just remind you when it’s time to pray, it can optionally lock your computer, making it much harder to keep putting prayer off.

You can unlock your screen by connecting your phone and taking a photo of your sink or bathroom. Local AI analyzes the image to verify that you got up from your computer to make wudu.

If you don’t like that idea, you can turn the feature off and simply use it as a normal prayer app with prayer times, reminders, prayer time notifications, fasting times, Quran verses, and Islamic events.

Background:

I spend most of my day programming, and my computer is usually the reason I lose track of time. I couldn’t find a prayer app that was actually built around that problem, so I decided to build one myself.

Better Prayer is completely free. There are no ads, subscriptions, or paid features.

I’d love any feedback, criticism, or ideas for improving it.

Thanks!

I don't care how hardened the enclosure is. An angle grinder from Home Depot or a truck with a solid tow winch will rip that thing off a wall in under three minutes. At current GPU market values, you’re basically bolting an un-monitored ATM to the side of a house and hoping for the best.

This might be the best marketing Claude Code has ever gotten.

"I won't be leading The Washington Post day-to-day. I am happily living in 'the other Washington' where I have a day job that I love. Besides that, The Post already has an excellent leadership team that knows much more about the news business than I do..."

2026 Microsoft software in a nutshell. More clutter, less performance.

Hello Everyone! Over the years of making games, one thing I always struggled with was audio management. I can't count how many times I reopened the same Brackeys audio manager tutorial and rebuilt the same audio system EVERY SINGLE TIME from scratch for every new project.

Eventually, I decided to make my own Unity Audio Manager and kept improving it with every game I worked on. It now includes things like a GUI, one-line sound playback, fade in/out, random pitch variation, audio groups, inspector assignment, and more.

It's very versatile while still being light-weight, and I am really proud of how clean the API turned out.

I thought I'd share it here in case it can save someone else a few headaches and a lot of time. Hope it helps! :)
