Steve Jobs didn't invent the PC. It's reductionist and offensive to single him out and thanking him for that.

Computers didn't "figure out the maths". People did the math, the computers did the calculations.

Human knowledge is nowhere complete, it's silly to think so, and by extension it's silly to think the LLM's have anything near a complete knowledge set.

They don't even have access to all of current human knowledge, much less so future knowledge. A lot of text and information is locked away from the public internet and the internet altogether.

Not all types of useful ideas for applications have been invented, that's ridiculous, there are plenty of ideas that people haven't had yet. There are however a massive amount of shitty copies of the same shitty ideas.

Yeah i also want to know what the adaption is. Because so far all I'm seeing is removal of the natural incentive to build deeper understanding of the systems. So in the future only the people who are really curious and want to know for knowledge sake are going to know enough to deal with the blind spots of the automatons.

Knowing how the things the LLM's are touching appears to be the only skill of value. Because using these things are trivial for anyone who is familiar with computers, what adaptation and catching up is there beyond waiting and observing what works and then just applying that?

"But the LLM's will know everything" well then we aren't needed at all, just put it on a loop and leave it running. At this endpoint there's nothing to adapt to, only direct means of allocating necessary resources to yourself for subsistence.

Sweden has 14 sick days no questions asked before you need a doctors note. The German way of having to call your doctor for a flu note is a little odd to me. You do loose the first day's pay (the meme is that too many people were off sick when there was a world cup finals or something), and then 80% pay.

I agree. I had such a strong revelation reading C Programming Language book, and the Lua Programming Language book (which is suspect is heavily influenced by the C book). It's so clear and concise while not skipping important details, answering all of the readers questions that come up. Kerningham et al really knows how to write and the value of doing so well, respecting the reader.

There's just so much shitty technical documentation out in the world.

I love reading docs. It's the best way to get as close as I can to understanding the intent and context of a piece of software. I feel like adding an LLM between myself and the original text for anything else than search is just adding risk and noise.

Am I the only one feeling this way?
