I've recently read The Cuckoo's Egg and as a person that has been born into technology it's really interesting how Cliff goes to explain concepts that these days are understood as common knowledge.
> AND I can pay them in BTC, further obscuring myself.
Which is not really impressive since BTC can be tracked. What is impressive, however, is you can just mail them cash with a piece of paper with your account number on it and they will add that money as credit on your account.
Considering there are "GPT plagiarism" checkers, I don't think this will become an issue. I wonder at which point an extension will come out that will check a page's text if it was written by a human.
That day is closer than you may think. I sometimes only have my phone with me as i can pay using only it (something like Google/Apple pay, but through my bank's app) and can unlock my front door thanks to Home Assistant. Both of those (should, I don't have one) work with a smart watch.
It's interesting how the ThinkPads used to be the tech person's™ laptop of choice because of their repairability and extendability, but nowadays most tech people (at least in the professional setting) are using Apple's MacBooks which are the opposite when it comes to repairability and extendability.
There are TVs, here most are Chinese white label brands, that instead of using Android TV just have a microcontroller running Android on it. In fact I've installed Android on a Raspberry pi and the experience was literally the same. There's no smart features unless you select the input to Smart TV (which i assume is some internal HDMI interface renamed to Smart TV on the UI)
Not that i approve/excuse it, but it could also be why you must jump through so many hoops to get access to the account. There's a big black market on "OG" minecraft nicknames.
It isn't a 1:1 alternative, but I've always thought that ESPhome would be much more accessible for the non-devs if they introduced a GUI similar to Home Assistant's automation GUI.
Some cheap(-ish), but good soldering iron suggestions: The TS-100 and its successor the TS-80 are stand alone soldering irons that only need DC power to function (the TS-80 is powered through USB-C and supports PD meaning you can power it when not at home with a power bank).
If portability isn't that important to you the (Ksger, althouh that's just one brand) T12 is a great desktop soldering station.
How fast does Google respond with your data? I know Facebook's data export took me at least a week last time I did it (back when they first announced it).
Most service's email confirmation codes/links have an expiration timer that is pretty short.
If Google were really malicious they would just make you wait a week, or more, until they "gather all your data" making it not possible to migrate your accounts.
What should be possible, though, is to migrate your account without access to your email. For example make the user save a special TOTP secret that will be used only for dangerous actions and not just for logging in.
USB 4.2 (later renamed to USB 3.2 gen 2 Mk. 1) comes with built in time traveling. They just keep adding features to the protocol and making it complicated.
