the dedicated server situation was (is?) pretty dire back when i hosted a few SRCDS instances. here's a small taste: https://wiki.alliedmods.net/SRCDS_Hardening#Current_Exploits

not to mention that the commands themselves obey absolutely zero *NIX conventions at all. Left a bad taste in my mouth ever since

Wasn't Apple's iMessage protocol supposed to be an open implementation too? Whatever happened to that?

> ". Your tools seem to be bizzarely obsessed with colors, though"

Ah, there it is. The "you don't need that feature" attitude that made desktop Linux the roaring success it is today.

I take back every bad thing I have ever said about mailing lists - at least it was easier to follow the drama than these damn twitter links.

>"it seems that archive.is responds to queries from Cloudflare’s systems with an incorrect response."

What makes the response incorrect? I was under the impression that DNS implementations were under no "practical" obligation to return consistent queries to differing requester IP addresses (hence stuff like split-horizon DNS and EDNS: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/ecs )

Hell, I 'read' whole books by just reading the back cover! This way, I get through hundreds of books every time I visit the library!

When you can figure out which is which, you might be onto something. Until then this is a very...mediocre comment.
