The best way to access ChatGPT "chat" was always on ChatGPT.com via a web browser, not even the iOS app seems to have all the little things you can do on the web version.
The Mac desktop ChatGPT app had weird issues like not being able to see the model being used by a chat inside a project etc. I just ended up installing ChatGPT Atlas and using that as an AI-only browser for all LLMs including Claude and Grok lol
I've subscribed to ChatGPT/Codex for over a year and tried a Claude sub twice 1 month each, with a gap of several months in between.
I tried them both side by side, mostly for reviewing existing Godot/GDScript code, or sometimes generating Swift Mac apps, including converting ancient relics I wrote eons ago in Visual Basic on Windows
Besides the useless "This is good" findings while reviewing and the excessive "oops you're right" backtracking, Claude's atrocious UX and borderline "spyware" make me never want to try an Anthropic product again for a long long while.
> Now the scams aren't for bread money but are for entertainment money.
The prospect of not being able to pay for food or rent carries a desperation that isn't there when just wanting to buy a video game or hire a Hooker :)
Maybe with hard drug addiction, but that's a different societal problem to tackle.
> it just re-baselines
If fewer people are chronically -desperate- for money, it could leave a smaller workforce pool available to professional scammers for "hiring ghost writers to pump out low quality ebooks" or "paying people to leave 5 star reviews" etc
> Laws restricting the use of local AI/LLMs are not going to happen
Are you sure? There are already laws against what you can do at home with very basic (pun) fundamentals of reality like chemistry.
Someone simply searching for "How to assassinate Trump" could get arrested for a thought crime. Hell this comment alone likely set off a few flags.
Imagine someone running an AI at home and asking it for planning a hit on someone. Cue same media fearmongering wave as with 3D printed guns and woohoo now it's mandatory for operating systems to watch your screen and all your keystrokes.
Fuck I probably gave some of the control freaks in power some ideas there :(
