It's so disheartening because there are so many brilliant and talented people that work there, and only want to do their job and don't want to be involved with politics. But it's absolutely true that Kaspersky is compromised by the Russian government, and their products and software cannot be trusted.

Not really weird.

My opinion is that the people who upvoted this did so just because the (unhinged) premise of the article flattered their worldview.

Ultimately, there isn't too much to discuss when there's so much bad faith involved.

The author is clearly pushing a radical agenda, and his perspective is so drenched in ideological possession, there isn't much to learn from him.

Capitalism is bad, capitalism is wrong, capitalism is warfare? Okay bye.

Your logic is very flawed. Let's assume for example that a criminal gang places hand grenades in kindergartens across America, and many children die as a result of playing with them, is it the children's fault? You might say no, because children don't really know the dangers involved with explosives, but here's another example.

But let's say a criminal gang places tens of thousands hand guns in colleges across America. Students do know what guns are. In this scenario, I predict mass shootings will increase by a crazy amount, as well as suicides, etc.

Would you really blame the students? Sure, some of the blame rests on each person who picked up the gun, but THE MAJORITY of the blame goes to the person who enabled this.

I hope this example changes your view, because it's so strange you act as an apologist for a ruthless criminal gang, and is unwilling to admit that there's a larger picture.

Why are we linking articles written by a cult member who writes about magic, astrology, and occultism? (Check Wikipedia for sources) This dude is clearly not quite mentally sound.

IMO, the only reason people are sharing such ramblings of a madman is because the title of this article (America's empire is bankrupt) fits their fantasy and political ideologies.

The actual content and the validity of the author is irrelevant to people who are ideologically possessed. Shame to see such rubbish posted on HN.

It seems to me that the points mentioned in the article didn't reflect many other ways of how truly better off we are, compared to literally every generation before us.

Also, yeah sure, houses now are more expensive relative to salaries (mostly in cities but it's true generally).

However, in almost any other metric, we own a lot more, and have much more options to thrive, we are safer and healthier, and ultimately we're much much better off.

The world is getting better, and witnessing people deny this fact is depressing.

This is precisely what Mackey did. My question is why isn't she also being charged, and why this tweet is still up and the account not banned?

I was thinking the same. I'm so impressed by the first "Christina in Red" photo. It's now definitely my favourite earliest photograph.
