Both cashier and software developer in London or Berlin face similar issues - live in with strangers, are two to three pay-checks away from eviction, and cant start a family. Actually I think the cashier stands a better chance.

Brexit is more about taking are country back and your certain that is going well. The NHS is well funded and immigrants are where they belong, are competent doctors nurses and engineers are now swamped in highly paid jobs.

That’s going to be quite a challenge were it to happen in europe. Online prostitution in west europe is the only way some people can achieve home ownership and financial freedom.

> A lot of people have been happy with what they have since the last century.

I dont see many folks riding horses or using the telegraph these days, perhaps you do?

You’d be surprised how disconnected from reality people are. There’s talk in every western country about population aging and housing affordability yet people cant see either. Office workers are out of the child making equation and they are the least aware of the world outside. Being constantly gaslight and ordered around does that to you. But the issue is that the trend is to obliterate all types of income sources outside office cattle farming and fewer people will afford the luxury of a family and friends. The frog is warm but will boil surely.

> implementing unit or integration tests, or of doing code review with a more experienced dev

Problem is that all that is done in the UK, but tests cover all the wrong things and assert wrong values, and these "experienced" devs are the devs that usually pushed for wrong tests and practices. Guaranteed the post office had unit tests, but they tested everything the wrong way. Lack of skill and passion can't be compensated by practice. If everyones goes to their office to churn out features and clock in then you end up with crap.

The Post Office, HMRC, NHS, Home Office, DVSA, DVLA, Ofstead, all suffer from similar issues, as do private entities.

But at least they are all hybrid or on site so they can pretend to work by doing cheap talk and playing petty politics. British made software is like Soviet made cars.

Wu Tang has the best lines to describe corporate workers:

“You're just worms in the worst part of the apple that's rotten You squirm and you turn from the right, still plottin All slimy cause you stay grimy, petty crimey”

While some have no alternative others enjoy that kind of game and are part of the problem. Best stay away from such jobs, and undermine corporate at every turn.

People need to understand that all software made in the uk is like this. It takes two to three of them to make something in a so called agile setting that achieves nothing but talk and tests for all the wrong things. People lose money, orders, and in some cases their lives and freedom.

Odd, it appears that germany has no issue manufacturing cars with components sourced from an enemy country. Why does germany have such fascination with all things russian? Is it because after ww2 a lot have been fathered by russian soldiers or a secret desire to mimic russia’s behaviour? Either way kudos to the US for doing what’s right, as usual.

This thing reeks of web3 and crypto style marketing. Claims such as “it is used by teams”, “we already have many users” and claims of “large” companies among their sponsors are dubious at best. Common among ai companies these days.

Yuk.

> One of the code reviewers is a top Python community participant though.

Double yuk.
