Also I think the video is done nicely however I am not entirely sure about how I get exposure to new photos etc - what originates them if everything expires in 24 hours? After I login the first time I am not clear on how this app would take me so I am losing a bit the excitement about looking forward to getting this app
RESOLVED - so this is the response I got from MailChimp:
[Thank you for contacting Support. We can certainly understand your concern. It is recommended to not use a generic email such as contact@. Instead use an address more in the likes of [email protected], or [email protected]. Sometimes using contact@, info@, sales@ will not push through delivery for an initial domain verification.
Also, it may be a good idea to whitelist MailChimp first. Here are our current IP ranges. Have your IT set these to your server.

Their first point actually resolved the issue. I wished I could have kept contact@ but instead I replaced it with myname@ and it now works.

I actually dont see this as shameless as you title it :) however I still think the quickest for me to get an email out to my subscribers is to sort Mailchimp first

Most people dont realize that the actual registered name of a company is different than its domain name or brand/product name. This is not a big issue from this perspective
If you think you will have other products than it could make sense to have a more generic name using "softwares" that will cover all of your activities and not use a company name similar to your current product. Again, no decision on the registered name will prevent you from doing anything in the future as a bad decision on a brand/product could have
bad things tend to come up at the same. its the nature of things but you should do your best to distinguish between the two.
I guess you are not seeking advice here on HN on how to cope with your gf relationship - this issue (painful as it is) has nothing to do with your startup failure. So, one issue shouldnt cloud the other.
I guess that your startup failure still has value. A lot of other entrepreneurs are always keen to learn of other people's experience, so worst case your experience can turn into a blog that can lead to new followers, ideas etc..
In any case, things tend to work out in the end :) dont forget that 90% of startups fail and everyone knows that its not like you experienced something that should make you lose belief in yourself!
I have a sort of similar experience. I am developing a jamming platform and to lift it off we're looking at paying/artificially creating accounts that imitate real users. Its not cheating or anything, its just creating great content and making it look like at first this is coming from genuine users.
Another method is to ask early adopters here (and possibly on reddit) to have the first go at providing content. some will respond :)

In my opinion to the fans part is missing from the messaging of the page. If this is something that you are pushing out than it needs to be a bit more flashed out on the page, in my opinion. I wouldn't necessarily see this app as a way to better engage with my fans/followers straight away so maybe the messaging could make it easier for the average user that visits the page to understand this
