A gentle reminder that GDPR is not really just about the annoying cookie banner(which most of the time are not GDPR compliant anyway).

>> Isn’t USB-C at high power kind of expensive per watt?

I don't think it's too expensive if you consider the environment impact not to mention the bad user experience caused by multiple chargers. I also believe at certain point the economies of scale should make it less expensive.

yeah but only recently offered an alternative charging method (magsafe) along with USB-C

If your gaming laptops needs more than 240w you could use multiple 240w chargers. I believe gaming laptops use multiple chargers anyway.

The issue with wireless charging is the waste of energy and lack of fast charging.

If only AirPower wouldn't have been a such failure.

I believe today's iphones are larger than the first iphones. Am I wrong? Not to mention the Samsung high-end stuff.

>> The question is: could e.g. apple create a port which is significantly superior to USB-C, the way lightning was superior to Micro-USB?

I think there is already one: MagSafe/MagSafe2. Is it worth a new pile of chargers/wires along usb-c? I think no. Even apple discontinued it for a while.

>> I'm honestly only worried about charging speed on laptops and tablets.

What kind of tablet needs more than 240w ? I think that's what Alienware uses as well so I doubt you will ever need more than that. Not to mention that the trend going towards more efficient electronics/chips etc.

Apple just started doing that. It put usb-c on the newer macbooks along with its old/back from the dead magnetic connector.

Laptops still ship with various power bricks/connectors.

Apparently Apple is even slower than the slow bureaucrats

There are still laptops with various charger types not to mention digital cameras and other electronics that could use usb-c pd but refuse to adopt it. I think the law should be expanded to any kind of electronic device that whose power requirements can be satisfied by the usb-c specifications.

>> There is a shortage of handy people is my take.

I don't think that. The housing prices are so high due "network effects". The land costs more than the house and everyone wants the same land parcel. I would definitely buy a land parcel and build a nice house but that parcel's almost 4 times more expensive than 2 bedroom flat so I stick to the overpriced 2 bedroom for now.

Traveling during a pandemic is not normal so I find the advice not to travel back home during a pandemic is totally normal. Doing otherwise puts everyone at risk (the traveler, people who he/she interacts with during the journey and the host/home country)

Who is 100% sovereign? Any kind of treaty makes you less "sovereign". I believe it's the same question about freedom. Are you a free person if you have a job, pay mortgage or marry someone?

Technically the answer is yes. In practice I believe there would be civil war before that happens.

This guy has found out the benefits/features of free social media. I don't know why he bothers to mention the name. It could as well be Meta(FB, Instagram) or TW. The last part is really laughable...

>> There is also the matter of lack of consent, as children are sometimes too small to understand what is going on ....

That being said I believe in the EU at least they will have to change a few things.

That may be illegal just like it's illegal to tamper with consumer electronics/HDMI devices

Tesla still has an "early adopter" and tech aura(IMHO). I wouldn't say it's seen as luxury in Europe. I believe they sell well in Europe because they have the best batteries/range and little competition. I believe once (if) Mercedes and the other brands ramp up production on their electric cars Tesla will have a very hard time competing. They have to deliver either better tech or better value(price). They cannot compete on "luxury" or brand. Tesla itself markets as a tech company (to investors and everyone else). It sells the first move advantage(i.e. battery tech, economy of scale)
