back in the 1980s americans were able to buy cars cheaper because the manufacturers were not required to install all the added safety features that we have today...back then the gas mileage was better too because the cars were lighter...then some corporate lobbies got congress to force manufacturers to add safety features...the prices of cars went up...the weight of cars went up, and the gas mileage went down...
what corporate lobby did that? Oil companies, perhaps....and as a result americans are forced to spend more on cars and more on gas than citizens of free nations...
some might say we are lucky to have the government looking out for us....but I would not say that...
yeah, thread winner here....not really surprising that so few comments here are speaking to this seemingly obvious truth...because HN is management-oriented
actually, I am invigorated and refreshed by working from home...of course we all have to alert to the possibility that vested interests, such as real estate interests are trying to insert propaganda into the flow of information so as to influence corporate decisions
what is funny is that there is no cheap TVP for sale in the stores...you can get the substitute meat patties (mostly soy) etc for sale in many grocery stores, but it is not cheap at all...costs considerably more than the cheapest hamburger, pork or chicken...if the food manufacturers can save money by using TVP mixed in with meat, then why is there no cheap TVP for sale in the stores ?
it's not that the american justice system is broken; it's that the american nation itself is broken...or perhaps it might be accurate to say that the american nation never really existed, and that nowadays the nation is a mere shadow of what was in the past only a pseudo-nation
yeah, it sucks, but can we admit that we have no power over what happens in healthcare? Everyone here is talking about the problem as if we can actually make positive changes. But I don't think we can. I don't think obamacare was an improvement for most americans.
Congress is bought and paid for by the lobbies, and no matter who we put into office, nothing about healthcare is going to get better, and it will probably get worse.
First we have to understand the problem and admit what the problem really is. The problem is that we have no control over our government, and there is no path in making that better. Can we please just admit that?
this sort of thing is already more or less settled law..if you take some medication that impairs your ability to function, that might well serve as a defense during prosecution...same thing applies to brain tumors...of course there are other factors involved...
what corporate lobby did that? Oil companies, perhaps....and as a result americans are forced to spend more on cars and more on gas than citizens of free nations...
