to go a step further, anyone using time variables based on calendar periods should know better than to think the relative time of +1 month would be simple. I'm not sure it's the fault of using a simple name in this case.
I'm sure there could have been a lot better options to drive that point home, but the author picked one that I'm sure everyone has an opinion about. That seems like an effective way to get people talking about it, but it could be divisive in bad ways.
I'm a little put off by the other saying "a clean name shuts down our thinking", so maybe I'm just responding in disgust.
I had a similar experience back in February when they shipped an RTX 3090 using a carrier called LSO. you ever heard of LSO? me neither. anyway. after spending a week with LSO for them to figure out my package was lost, Best Buy told me they'd ship me another. fast forward through another month of lies from best buy. every single one of them sounded scared of losing their job if they escalated. several hung up on me. one best buy "supervisor" told me that I could trust him because he sent his troops to die in Iraq...like...wtf?!
to close up, it took 7 weeks from LSO saying they lost the package to getting my refund from best buy. fuck best buy.
wow. I never realized how brutal they are to Augustus. I've read that book 3 or 4 times and I never thought of how terrible that would be for a chubby kid to read that.
fat shaming is everywhere, and bullies will always bring up that its unhealthy to be that fat. But they don't actually care about that persons health, they just want to bully that person. It's sad.
I know a lot of people who struggle with weight. some who seem to do it in a positive way and some in a not so positive way. but either way, they have to deal with people bullying them and I feel so bad for them being bullied.
I also know a lot of people who don't struggle with their weight. I don't know if most of them have ever had to struggle with their weight, or if they were ever bullied for their weight. But, I do know they don't bully other people for their weight, 'cause I don't hang out with those sorts of people.
good read, I hope a lot of people read it and get their kids to read these books. not just the chubby kids, but all the kids.
