I'm surprised Facebook hasn't focused on mobile - they could have a Facebook style Pixel phone, which focus on camera / video quality to encourage more usage towards Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp etc.
WhatsApp/Messenger could have been the meta version of iMessage.
Instagram could have been the Meta version of Google Photos / iCloud.
Facebook could have been the Meta version of a Google account.
Could have offered a fbmail/metamail style Gmail service.
The problem is the original facebook phone had Facebook so in your face it wasn't funny. Meta could be strong on hardware, services etc without disrupting its advertising business.
I personally don't think i'll be using a VR headset while doing virtual meetings, half the time i'm doing something else on another screen. VR doesn't let you do that.
After Google's various shenanigans with Gsuite legacy my trust in Google was already low and now almost non-existent. Additionally can't add extra space to the latest free edition for legacy folks without hacking some Google drive APK.
I've moved my family domain to Microsoft 365 (I'm using a free covid trial of Teams Exploratory licence for 12 months then i'll move to M365 Business Standard as the live.com version doesn't support DKIM or multiple domains).
BTW - OWA isn't terrible anymore, feels nicer than Gmail, works fine in Chrome, Firefox, Edge etc.
I also transferred another domain to Infomaniak and i've found its interface quite nice - only miss push email on iPhone so haven't quite pointed my MX to them yet on that domain.
Only downside to my setup is the Microsoft apps like One Drive timeout when I have 1Blocker enabled on my iPhone.
Its 100% fair wanting companies to pay however the notice isn't enough. I just use Netlify for a basic landing page to link to my linkedin / github etc on my personal domain...
Its kinda annoying having to have this repo public, so i'm most likely moving this to s3/CloudFront since AWS offers 1TB free.
