>>> Most roads aren’t even meant for cyclists

A few things:

- the first two were conducted while we were in the thick of the pandemic and loathe to be near anyone outside of our pod. WFH made sense then, and I’m sure people were more comfortable knowing they wouldn’t get Covid WFH

- the third was in 2023 when the world opened up, but studied call center operators. Yes, I can see how they would be more productive at home. However, imho any position that requires collaboration and many interactions between staff is more productive in the office and this study doesn’t address that.

Is a bicycle an engine (or a motor)? It is a machine with moving parts that converts power into motion.

Came here to say the same thing. No reason to put it in the fridge though.

Even a fresh pastry is just a pile of empty calories. If breakfast is the most importantl meal of the day then no dessert for breakfast for me.

Previously, “RTO” was just known as “work”, and it wasn’t always great - with the commute and all. But the fact that they pay me made it easier.

Get back to me in 10 years, when it has 230k miles on it and hasn’t needed a single major repair - like my 2013 Sienna. I’ve got several friends who own independent repair shops, and all agree that if everyone owned a Toyota they would have no business.

Counterpoint: if ̶b̶i̶c̶y̶c̶l̶e̶s̶ cars were a new invention that came out this year, would they be allowed on the road? I'd say almost certainly not

My mom has a mobile flip phone that was “designed for the elderly”. Big buttons, big labels, etc. The “Volume Down” button is also giant and is on the side. It’s also strategically located so every time she picks up the phone, tightly gripped, she unknowingly turns the ringer volume all the way down. Sigh…

You haven’t seen Massachusetts temporary plates because they don’t exist. Massachusetts doesn’t issue them.

>> Polyamory is having love for one or more individuals and actively being in a relationship with those individuals.

Shouldn’t “one or more” be “more than one”? Or else there’s a whole lot more polyamorous folks out there…

>> The old, some people are breaking the law, so we should restrict everyone else.

It would only restrict people who are breaking the law.

>> Perhaps all vehicles should just have a breathalyzer interlock as a standard option?

Sounds good to me. Bring on the “but what if my friend is bleeding out in the backseat” arguments.

More accurate title: "Non-simple streetlight hack could protect cameras and telescopes from urban light pollution, but still annoy anyone outside just trying to look at the stars"
