Phones have as robust file system browsers as desktop computers.

It's probably just that the users of phones are not that "robust" and organized to care where the files are.

I partly agree with you, but File System Access API requires Chrome. Other browsers do not support it. And this API does not support checking for file changes on the file system, eg. To reload a changed file like desktop editors do.

Maybe model the past, but not predict the future.

The relationship between interest and inflation is probably not as simple as people and experts seem to think. It's non-linear, involves hysteresis and also time delays. It's probably not possible to model.

Why is it we can spend 10k/year on our car, but not 10k/year on ourself. We have to ask our government/insurance to pay. Makes no sense.

This is where waste to energy plants should be used. It is a shame the unusable clothes are not burnt directly at the source to create electricity and remote heating. Instead it is shipped to the other end of the world by boat and truck and then burnt in open nature for no good.

I have not seen any ossues with results. I have found what I was looking for every time both around tech and general topics.

The RP2040 doesn't have a good low power sleep mode. It uses several hundred uA in sleep and dormant mode versus the ESP8266 which uses only 20uA in deep sleep.

This makes a huge difference for sensor systems etc. A pico/RP2040 cannot be powered by a battery for very long.

It uses a lot of power for embedded apps though. Not often you need all that performance either.

Kagi is still a good search engine though. Hopefully they continue to improve that part too, even if they do AI stuff.

I think OP is quite right that insurance drives tests and costs up because contrary to what we think it is good for the insurance companies if the doctor bill is high because then people buy more expensive insurances and thus higher revenue for the insurance company.

If the cost would be low there would be no need for an insurance.

The biology doesn't change of course, but the procedures, drugs, medical devices, treatments and overall knowledge and best practices does.

An annual physical is such a small and simple subset of the total medical field so not sure why you bring it up.

And that's a very annoying condition to drive under. So quite useful.

Why do people buy them then?

What is meant with "legal cannabis"? That the last step somehow is a licensed dealer selling? Or is is guaranteed the whole chain from farmer to point of sales is legal?

Producers following the laws can not compete with illegal producers on price. So even if you make consumption legal, the illegal networks will remain and become even bigger as the market expands.

This is something I have been wondering about a lot. How can companies pay so much for engineers i Silicon Valley when you get the same level of engineers in Europe for 1/3 the price. And provable 1/6 of you look more to the east or asia.

Sure, there might be some kind of network knowledge going on in Silicon Valley, but now with work from home, that's pretty much fading away.

Apply it to healthcare and rethink.

Not saying you are completely wrong, but I think there are other measures to stop bad driving.

The whole point of insurance is also the even out the tops and bottoms. If everyone paid their fair share cost for the insurance there would be no point with insurance. You could as well pay the damage yourself when it comes.

The problem with economic models is that they remove almost all parameters except a few. But the removed parameters account for like 90% of the outcome.

That's the only way you can create models of something as complex as society. It's way more complex and chaotic than weather and still economists think they can predict months and years into the future.

I cannot explain the physics, but a big rock that has basked in the sun is really warm for a long time after sunset. A bucket of water loses its temperature faster.

The higher density of rock probably plays a big role.
