Is Microsoft intentionally making this exploitable? I knew it was only a matter of time before Recall would be compromised, but this shows they aren't even trying to secure it.

Please tell me where I can download the server binary to run my "Discord Server."

Oh wait, I can't? So it's not really "my" "server"?

I would have a very different take on Discord if I could host a server myself and ensure that what I and my community have built won't be deleted at the whim of the corporation or threat from a lawyer. There's no offline backup where you can just spin everything back up on a different host.

And to those that think an obscure "invite" link will protect you from Nintendo's lawyers, you're living in a different reality than I am. Discord, a registered company with a lot to lose, will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat to lawyers or law enforcement.

The current generation is way too comfortable with technical stuff being abstracted away behind pretty cloud based interfaces and Electron apps.

".to" was the first big one I remember from the late 90s. You could get a forwarded address to your geocities or angelfire URL from something like "welcome.to/myawesomesite" or "jump.to/mycoolpage"

I think the common one was "new.net" and yes, it was just some kind of software extension that either added to or replaced your DNS queries. If you didn't have the software installed, you could still get to, say example.faketld by going to example.faketld.new.net

I remember them pushing to get ISPs to use their custom DNS, and I think there was least one major ISP that implemented it natively.

That's fair. I should say, it was my main reason for using Authy as there wasn't anything else out there that could do synced mobile and desktop easily for free.

The downside to this, is that you're tied into Apple's ecosystem. The nice thing about Authy was that I had the same access on Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux.

This was literally the only reason to use Authy.

I know people have swapped out the classic Macs CRTs for an LCD, but I wonder if anyone has tried it with an e-ink display? I've always thought the same thing regarding the classic pre-MacOS 8 systems on e-ink.
