There are many systems of ethics where the right of someone to live on the land where their home is (tent or otherwise, owned by them or someone else) takes precedence over private property rights. I, sure as hell, would love to live in in a world where that was put into practice.

I cannot find a single popular movie that's available to stream which isn't also available as a 4k WEB-DL on a popular, well known, private tracker.

Given that "bane" is a nearly infinitely more common word than "eproctoring" I bet you (and I) are in the majority.

A linked video claims that the commercial version attempts to transfer heat from one rotating metal surface to another (the the part that connects to the CPU and the bottom of the spinning thingy) separated by an extremely thin layer of air. This is "supposed to" transfer heat as if the metal is touching but "doesn't see to work very well in practice"

I had one of these and your note of "a cellular modem connected directly to main memory" makes me laugh. I didn't know that until now but I think that clears up why phone calls could crash the phone in some circumstances.

Like you said it was a fantastic little linux terminal - great for SSH and it was certainly fun and novel to have a linux CLI on my cell phone.

if you can't answer the question yourself, you wouldn't ever be able to understand the answer. maybe i want to have two calls at once / maybe i have a shitty gsm/csd link / maybe we are transmitting over a link that has less than 10kbps bandwidth. asking this question implies you have no imagination or awareness beyond what you already know. i'll get banned from hn for this but goddamn you're a dumb person

hn allows meaningless statements (as above) but bans calling anyone out for being dumb

To clarify, do you find Lyra @ 3kbs to be more unpleasant overall than Speex at @ 3kbps?

What makes you unsure of the risk was worth it?

Did he really? I think Elon's a dummy but is he really so dumb as to suggest 4 game of thrones books?

Software ends up complex since it attempts to model the real world which is oh so complex

You serious think that taking away the stream of income that has put trillions of usd in the hands of cartels / organized crime won't have a huge impact?

Illegal but also very possibly without consequence. The NLRB has no independent enforcement power, sadly: https://www.nlrb.gov/about-nlrb/what-we-do

Neither. Google is selectively enforcing their security policy. The article explains: "It fired a number of staff for violating data security - but the NLRB said the rules were applied only to those engaging in union activity."

You're completely right but the source code doesn't even need to be leaked. Just reverse engineered. How else would we pirate movies from Netflix/Amazon/etc :)
