Guess I was misktaken. I had the choice between a thinkpad and MacBook and given an iPhone, didn’t realize we could get an android or just didn’t pay attention...
I had to use the BART the other day. The choices were $2.50 in cash or use a card where the minimum was $20 to fill a pass. I choose cash since I’m not from the Bay Area.
I don’t know about Seattle, but in California most recreational cannabis stores don’t accept card so that was another couple of hundred dollars I had to withdraw and use this week.
As a native austinite and engineer I completely disagree. The eastSide was a terrible place before. Going into pan am park was a no go at any time of the day. Comunities and infrastructure were dying in eat Austin. Also, It had extremely low home ownership rates so the lower class didn’t even own homes in these areas but made money for westside landlords.
South congress was full of crackheads and prostitutes as early as the 90’s. We had real urban decay. Now we are growing like crazy and if you’re willing to work hard any immigrant can get a construction job and make a great living for themselves.
This is true for alcohol but I'm not sure about cannabis.
In California, a heavy indica is a recommended by doctors for sleep. My understanding is that it only affects R.E.M. sleeep.
Anecdotally, I track my sleep and when I smoked a heavy indica before bed I would consistently get at high 80 to 90% sleep quality. I'm on a couple of month tolerance break and have a hard time breaking 80% sleep quality.
Counterpoint. I've had three thinkpads over the past 5 years for work. For two years I used Linux and am currently using windows 10.
Just bought my first Mac Pro in December. It is miles ahead in design and quality. The keyboard is brilliant and while I miss the trackpad dot the Apple mouse is the greatest I've ever used. The OS is still more intuitive and easier to modify.
>contemporaries drank alcohol, smoked marijuana, traveled extensively, spent rather than saved, and otherwise wasted their gifts
The point most people are bringing up in this thread is that the children of the upperclass do that all the time and still inherit enough wealth and property to earn more than you.
Most people on HN understand the Blockchain can be described as a p2p distributed database. It has great use cases, like asset registries, but im still waiting for the killer applications.
Personally, I've only used cryptocurrency for buying drugs on darknet matkets. We were the people actually using btc. Until the transaction fees got crazy and people moved toward better coins.
But I don't think every city needs Manhattan style density. Four, five story mid-rise density is the answer. Austin's urban core is building heavily in that style. I was just in Milwaukee for work as was surprised by the huge number of mid-rise buildings all over downtown. Just to show two midsized cities with insane growth at the core.
I think it's important to note that the majority of these protests are happening in large urban cities on the coasts that overwhelming did not vote for Trump. There are no large protests in the Middle of the country.
I'd also like to see the source for he 3% number that leads to overthrow.
