I don’t know what the original commenter meant, but a simple example is that tweeting (or following) things that I believe in while using my real name could cause a lot of issues to me an my family in my home country (even if I live abroad) So, in this case it’s a privilege of living and being born in a place with decent democracy.

Also, in my view, no democracy is safe, things can change in any country and I wouldn’t want a history of things that can be linked to me so easily. I am pessimistic coming from a place I did. Check marked people at least have money and connections to navigate those issues.

I am sure there are more examples. I think it was a valid statement.

This. This happens whether I enjoy the thing I am working on or not. It’s just part of the process.

Also sometimes your mind needs a break. I personally cannot produce quality thoughts continuously no matter how much you force me, or I want to. I can mindlessly do physical things, but cannot code or think. I find it hard to believe there are people who can do this, if there are, they must be rare I beieve.

Would you mind sharing the names of the books that you’ve gathered for your daughter?

Anonymity is the default, we don’t walk around with our names and all our interests and thoughts attached to a label to be read by anyone. If anything, internet made it go away. Eg. even if you knew a person’s name you wouldn’t be able to look up other information about them before, now you can. Previously, you’d be able to go to a store and buy a thing without giving any information, now you have to give the “email” that collects most information about you. Your examples of loan, licence etc are not like 99% of interactions, and those can be handled as special cases like before.

I want to learn these. How do I start learning good modelling techniques? Are the NFs you’re referring to is same as in DB design? If so, how does that translate to general code/system design. Any pointers you can provide for learning material, concepts, or books will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
