the "manifold" renderer makes possible some stunts that couldn't be done before. for example, i made this "usa counties" outline from a png: https://www.printables.com/model/895723-usa-counties

its under the "features" preference, doesn't work for everything yet, but is worth investigating if you haven't.

Another perspective: https://jessesingal.substack.com/p/if-you-cant-see-that-adam...

> I know this didn’t happen. How do I know? I just know. The problem was, Rubenstein had contemporaneously told a number of people about the sandwich event, including Levine and Bari Weiss, and they started coming forward to say so.

Nono, we need to wrap the planet in paper. That will shield us from solar radiation as well as incoming rocks. And sequester carbon.

Then we can use the energy from relocating the Moon to correct the earth's axial tilt.

I've got a plan in motion: https://snafuhall.com/p/earthwrap.html

Interesting. Why not look at credit reports, tax records, etc: are they showing more income than an employer pays? If its not extra work then you get to bounce them to the police for reward money!

Wonder why there don't seem to be startups seeking to profit from finding and eliminating employer side fraud, wage theft and the like?

Correct, the head of the VFD had his house burn down. The 2nd fire starting after they'd been out there once already the same night made me suspicious, but i never heard nobody brag about it.

I do not know if the VFD would have or did indulge in arson. That was certainly the implication I felt when they were speaking to me. Which was amusing because I'd had to go out and take the dogs off them to let them out of the truck to talk in the first place.

I puzzled and annoyed them by confessing poverty, but offering to volunteer skilled labor. Apparently the firehouse didn't need wiring or network or anything :)

I know of a local Volunteer fire Dept that went that way; started having the head guy and a couple of his big cousins go around and tell people how much the VFD needed support, and how flammable their house or business looked.

Couple months after that started, the guy's house burned down. I heard the trucks came out twice, the second time there were more people responding and the police got into the guy's barn with a major weed grow. Not sure what the whole story was but the VFD moved and became a different entity after that.

The moral is that neighbors enforce the character of the neighborhood. Not cops.

The "Driver's Ed" class I had in the 80s had simulators; controls in front of a TV screen. Not interactive but there was some "scoring system" where the teacher could see some of what you were doing with your controls and if it was inappropriate for that stage in the movie.

Why don't we give kids go karts or 4 wheeler motorcycles before they learn to drive, anymore? I already had years of experience piloting powered vehicles from motorcycle size up to large excavators when it came time to get my driver's license.

The other way around, working with family, often fails miserably too. It's as if the two modes of life conflict.

Working for family sucks. At least slaves aren't usually expected to show gratitude. Who wants that in their workplace?

Right.

I'm expecting something like a cement truck with a long arm and a multiple pass deposition process. Possibly foaming the concrete at the nozzle; if anyone ever gets that chemistry to work. It might well be called "manually operated", I'd anticipate someone at the controls at all times even if it can do some sections by itself, just for safety and "shit happens".

I'd also anticipate at least one person at the nozzle at almost all times, dealing with inclusions and inspecting etc.

Even this won't be cheaper or faster than current techniques, but the onsite foamed concrete extrusion might become popular enough to endure for insulation, looks, or other reasons.

Roads are "crowned"; that is, the center is supposed to be higher than the edges, for water to run off.

Banking curves is a real thing and you notice when someone got it wrong.

Paving a road is a small step compared to building the roadbed; but its what people see. It's probably better to think of that like painting a house, building the road is a much bigger thing, but then it gets the surface refreshed often enough you see that.

See how drones and 3d printers are evolving; who could fund the firmware development? who could fund the research? but now these cutting edge things are necessarily public and cannot both be a military advantage and cutting edge.

Shutting down 8chan will not shut these people up. they will find somewhere else to talk to each other, as people do. While they're looking many message boards will be graced with new users: the form 8chan brigades are I fear going to discover they can land on places they don't like and cause their shutdown now too.

Right, all those people who were having fun on 8chan will now see the error of their ways, take up sensitivity training, and post only non-controversial things where ever they land next.
