there may be a part of the population who likes to put their mobile phone into their jeans’ front pocket instead of having to carry a daypack for it or these new cases to carry them outside on a string... thats why i like ~4 inch phones
Why? Even though it makes me clueless, i dont see how it’s more crazy than many other things people do to themselves, others, and the environment. Having a few crazy people doing some physical and mental exercises and calling that Operating Systems (as far as my understanding of it goes as of yet) is neither the craziest nor the most dangerous thing i’ve seen on this planet...
Where are the sources for this Open Source System?
Anything public is vague, (ab)using computer science terms for something that as i guess so far seems more like a physical/mental practice, and everything that could help to understand it better is not public but offered to be bought.
To me the slides dont help understanding what it is and what i can do with it / what it can do for me...
It seems not to be in the interest or capabilities of the authors to give people a simple, few sentences explanation about this - and clarity and simplicity of communication is not one of this System’s goals obviously...
With „worse“ you mean what exactly?
Probably just „not fitting my personal needs and ideas“? That doesn’t make something generally worse... or can you tell me how it’s bad for me?
Not explicitly - nor did I, you know, the sun don’t shine in many places - but implicitly it was saying i should do just that with my privacy expectations and our laws about them.
I did that and i didn’t like latex.
Especially error messages in case of wrong latex code was extremely unhelpful, pointing to code lines far away from the actual erroneous line.
I might be too stupid... but that’s how it felt, and i imagine being able to use simple markdown much more useable.
Yes!
There you can let yourself get sued for a few millions because you didn’t mark a coffee cup as containing hot stuff or didn’t write in the usage instructions of a microwave oven that it’s unsuited to dry a cat after bathing... much simpler, clearer, and safer market there...
So the post i replied to was helpful/constructive?
I am not even thinking that GDPR is implemented/written very greatly, and i was fearing too that it will mainly help to put small businesses out of any product category where storing even just an Email address is necessary(eg have an login and want to enable users to restoa forgotten password) while big companies have their lawyers to allow them keep abusing our data on the edge of legal possibilities and not to our favour...
So Im not yet sure if having no GDPR is better or worse than having none...
Just, simply saying if you have data protection laws i avoid your market without any detailed reason or proposal how to improve doesn’t bring us forward...
Not every artist makes art to make a living if it, nor do they need to. Some can’t (e.g. because they don’t have and struggle to aquire the necessary business skills) and some don’t even want that... they just wanna make some art and are happy to do it just as a hobby, no business, no chores... There’s nothing wrong with that , it even has some upsides, because you really absolutely never need to do the slightest sacrifice in your works for economic or marketing reasons.
Thanks for staying away! If you’re not interested in caring about our privacy and personal data concerns, you‘re very welcome to shove your products up to where the sun doesn’t shine...
To sum up the discussion of why this is either absolutely right / absolutely wrong, How about: „mono/poly-repo - none of both is THE single solution for every usecase in every organization and project“? Besides that, sure let’s keep analyzing the pros and cons of each in different scenarios...
If it requires installing something extra that you otherwise don’t need the mass market won’t join...
Also in general the masses probably will never see why to pay 10 bucks or whatever for quality content as they are happy being served the other stuff... i mean, ads wouldn’t be so successful if there weren’t people viewing the crap content they are placed in... even less being clicked on.
But there are thousands of people even responding to spam mails and sending money to some Nigerian Kings...
Wait. How about paying quality content from these. I mean, just telling them your brother has a million in the bank and they just need to pay 1000 to get it out and be rewarded with 10% etc... instead of nothing as usual, they get quality content! Ok after reading too much of that they won’t do it anymore. Selfdestructing Business.
Stealing it would be if they block ads and show their own ads(as some blockers seem to do). Providing people who don’t want to see ads with a software that enables them to hide them is a valuable service of it’s own, and i don’t see what’s wrong with charging money for the significant development and ongoing blocklist management effort.
It’s the content providers that need to find ways to get paid for content and the users who need to understand that content needs someone to create it and these people need to make a living. That being said, a lot of content out there is low quality abd even written fir nothing but attracting search engines - creating traffic and views which get paid by advertisers. So there is a psrt of content and providers nobody will want to pay for and nobody will be missing if it’s gone. The people creating that stuff need to find a way to make a living off something that actually somebody wants and needs...
Probably. Clearly if you happen to have a butcher at hand to get you the liver. Not sure if nowadays you could just bring a random dig to a butcher and ket him extract the liver for you - might be hygienic standards preventing to do it. Earlier might be the belief that dogs are dirty etc. but i don’t know...
