Realistically there are only about 1 million bitcoin users in total worldwide. It is still very early days. We are aiming to make OpenBazaar a common ecommerce standard using Bitcoin that will allow people to build trustworthy marketplaces on top in many different ways. It's not just about overrunning eBay, it's about providing a global, user-driven and open-source network that will grow in scale as Bitcoin does. The escrow capability is certainly an experiment in many ways, but it also is being done in other countries successfully and we think it's one of the best ways to create a marketplace of trustworthy arbiters rather than have a centralized corporation with rigid policies that treat customers unfairly in most cases.
You have the choice between direct payment transactions which is more risky and should only be used between known parties and then there is a 2 of 3 party multisig escrow transaction that allows a moderator to be an arbitrator for problems and funds are only released if 2 of the 3 parties agree.
I find it highly unlikely he will reveal what his strategy for staying free is. This would kind of be a dumb reveal even though I am curious what it is.
All of this being said could be told about any government contractor. The company is 24,500 strong and not all people are working on incompetent projects. I've worked for several contractors and they all have their own issues. As far as butts in seats, they are nowhere near as bad as Deloitte or SAIC or others of their ilk. No one knows if this is a project primed by Booz or they have just this one guy contributing as a subcontractor so I would slow your rolls down.

If you ever read Ted Dziuba's blog entries you would know his style. Also I thought it was a rather concise and toughtful piece with metrics to back it up unlike most arguments FOR using node.JS. Everyone is still free to go about their business, but it is refreshing to see people who actually understand the BS and filter through the cruft.

I agree. I would have to concede that sometimes the algorithm is not perfect (nor do I believe it ever could be). I took a glance at the Lord of the Rings and some of the ways that this movie was tagged made it appear stronger in certain categories that would recommend those movies. I have modified the analysis of the movie and I think the recommendations are a little more pertinent.
This comment has really resonated with me as I read it once again. I see this same tired comment on so many threads. Nowhere did I say that I want someone to do all the work for me. I guess there must be a lot of people out there that just want people to shoulder most of the load, but that's not what I'm looking for. I think even the most junior entrepreneur could realize that an idea is not as valuable as the strength of a team or ability to implement an idea. Also I'm not really sure where profit comes into play. There was no mention or discussion of profit or pay nor would I bring that up on a purely exploratory post like this one.

Javascript. Learn it asap. HTML obviously and then use what you know already for SQL and Java/C++ to code the backend. You already have a lot of the framework for it having done application development.
