Yep, based on Pouet's statistics, the C64 scene has overtaken even the PC (Windows) scene last year [1]. Huge activity there, even compared to the "golden years" of the scene [2]
Could you please describe why? jQuery is basically just a bunch of helper functions which makes your JS code a bit more readable and takes away the worry about browser (in)compatibility. Is that bad?
If you're not trying to build an SPA with them, not weird at all. For basic crossbrowser compatible interactive elements, vanilla JS and/or jQuery are/is more than enough. As long as it's easy to maintain, just use what you are familiar with and gets the job done.
Run into a strange behavior though. When I pause the video with the mouse (and consequently, leave the pointer above the play button), and later try to continue the play with space, it will double-press the play button and pause the video again.
Although a lot of demogroups are/were from Scandinavia, still the most active demoscene country is/was Germany where there's nothing out of ordinary regarding the weather. Poland, Netherlands, the UK, Hungary are prominent countries in the demoscene aspect as well. US had an extremely active cracking scene right from the beginning (C64 and later Amiga).
Most of the scene releases definitely weren't coming from far northern lands.
