It's more the simplest emergent thing I could come up with, over it being truly simple in the absolute.

Its a fair comment.

Thank you!

I had played around with some of the formulas to get everything to be 2^n but it it works better if L(0) is free and houses and mill/mine are 2^(n-1)

1) Ore tier is when the number is represented in binary. 2) I've made a mistake in my writeup here so I was changing the rules a lot as I played it to try and optimise but if you play with L(0) mill/mine being free then follow 2^(n-1) it works better.

3) Picking up and dropping are free, so the cost to move wood from x to y is just the travel cost. If operating, that is the only thing an agent can do. Assignment does not take time but the agent has to travel there.

4) I'll change it in the post but yes 2(n+1)

5) Yes higher ore can always substitute lower grade ore.

6) Yes unlimited batches.

7) I played it as only one building on a cleared square. The reason I'd keep this is because of the nature of houses means you're paying exponentially more for increasing density.

You can convert this to the expected value in the way you would a financial outcome.

The expected value is value times probability. And then the time aspect is just discounting future value back to today, like you would a cashflow. Your impulsiveness is then how much you discount tomorrow vs today.

(Expectancy * value)*(impulsiveness)^time

This way you can put a number on your impulsiveness probably from 1.001 to 2

I've been using pandas ai and its pretty good at saving time on googling the correct pandas function. I was wondering if anyone knew of a more general library that does the same sort of thing but more generally for python functions?

How people wake up and regain alertness in the hours after sleep is related to how they are sleeping, eating, and exercising. Here, in a prospective longitudinal study of 833 twins and genetically unrelated adults, we demonstrate that how effectively an individual awakens in the hours following sleep is not associated with their genetics, but instead, four independent factors: sleep quantity/quality the night before, physical activity the day prior, a breakfast rich in carbohydrate, and a lower blood glucose response following breakfast. Furthermore, an individual’s set-point of daily alertness is related to the quality of their sleep, their positive emotional state, and their age. Together, these findings reveal a set of non-genetic (i.e., not fixed) factors associated with daily alertness that are modifiable.

My development flow revolves around using vim inside a tmux session. Naturally using these two tools I have developed over time a lot of config stored in the dot files. I have found a great tutorial (as linked) which teaches a technique for moving them across computers. From a technical perspective I'm sorted but how do I do the move in a way that isn't going to cause red flags from more security conscious employers?

I know how to move dot files between computers but how do I move them across companies?

I think that the extension of rules further and further into areas of life that for most people will go unnoticed but for those that want to do something out of the box the limits will be there ever growing.

I don't know if that is an extension of burocracy as such because there may be more automated ways to handle the extra process.

Without power you can change nothing. Power is the ability to do work, this doesn't solely come from money but money is in a way, a form of stored work deferred in time.

Banks and finance isn't inherently evil but banks that don't optimise the allocation of capital will have less capital and so matter less. Much like in Norm chompskys Manafacturing consent, there is no need for evil actors. The system rewards particular things and that leads to a series of incentives.

What would the "Moral" activity of smart people be? Say you create some simple definition of the most moral action and run with it. Would improving the worlds access to knowledge (Google) not be a part of that? Would connecting communities (Facebook) not be a part of that? Would allowing small sellers of nice products to sell without the hassle of the logistics of online sales not be a part of that (Amazon)? Would creating original media content not beholden to the demands of advertisers not be a part of that (Netflix)?

Would creating the best expression of the mobile device by integrating the hardware and software giving as many people as possible access to leading technology without them having to understand much with regards to the technicalities (I guess that's the apple way?)

Would optimising the allocation of capital so that people can have things before they can afford them not be a part of that? The facilitation of the dream of having it all now while you are young enough to enjoy it rather than saving up for a retirement where you then have a stroke so can do anything with the money you saved. (The situation my grandfather ended up in) Facilitated by the finance industry.

Sure these companies are not monistries. (Although were the preists in those always so angelic) They are not charities, but unlike charities they generate (correctly or not) the resources to aim at their goals.

If a super smart person wanted to target the dreamy goals these companies claim to address but had a better way to address them, what would that way be?

How can you change the world if you do not have the power to allocate capital? The answer is you can't.

I'm a dyslexic programmer and what I find hardest about the job is keeping up when people list things in meetings. The number of times people suggest "Keep notes" as a solution for this is very repetitive. To keep notes you either have to be able to pre-empt something being worth taking a note of (it almost always only becomes aparrent after more context, by which time I've forgotten the name of the thing I should have taken note of and simple can remember the reference) or you have to be able to take note of everything. Recording and typing back isn't an option either as it simply takes too long.

The other thing I struggle with is being able to recall things in detail from what I have previously worked on. "What was x called that did Y you were working on last week?" I really struggle with that style of question.

For the spelling of variables names I use vim with spell check and mostly use ctrl+n to complete words so that they are spelt the same throughout. For the memory of function names being able to spin up a repl or run a subset of unit tests/ google/ autocomplete based on the estimated available properties of an object normally get the job done.

There are some really nice spell checks that integrate with vim that check the spelling of the words broken up by underscore so that each is checked individually. That helps a lot when writing a variable for the first time.

So insulation wise, the house is a listed cottage so there isn’t much more that can be done to insulate it. As a thatched cottage you can’t put solar heat pumps on it so the only option is ground source heats pumps which would cost £30000 which is just unaffordable.
