It's pretty common for anyone who is truly disconnected from tech to be this clueless. I'm surrounded by people that understand what I do, but every once in a while I'll be in a situation where I explain my job to a stranger or date or something and facepalm at their responses.
Or you know, a massive index of predictive technology that knows where I'm going and when before I do? Those services and data are more important than any physical product Google will ever release. Because it will power your interactions with their devices. Glass, Watch, Car, all will be powered and interacted with primarily through Google Now. Your Keep notes will becomes TODOs that your car offers to drive you to on your way home.

That statement is true of almost everything except cannabis legalization. It's certainly true for decriminalization. And the "country", the US, is no better than it was 5 years ago. The only thing that's changed is individual states making more reasonable laws.
