There's actual real people working on this bullshit. Horrifying doesn't even come close.

This matches my experience of running a public mediawiki server. The bots (mostly Facebook/Meta) will for every single change fetch every single page again, over and over.

I can’t tell if it’s incompetence or malice.

I suppose, but my Debian didn’t seem to ship with it.

Without the context this isn't very interesting

Are we really at the "redditor insult" type comments stage of HN now? There is nothing wrong with saying a piece of code is broken.

Very wow. Shame they assumed everyone has "bc"...

> they don't control for breaking the application's tests.

Essentially it's an absolutely worthless study then. This AI fatigue got boring a long time ago, this is just painful now.

The first one I got was a palm tree growing out of an orange woman's anus... so, I can see why some of this isn't very popular.

MUI is one of the most dreadful UI libraries I have ever had to use.

Personally I'd prefer React Aria; I don't have the patience to try understand why suddenly everyone is rushing to adopt Base UI instead of Radix which itself was once suddenly the thing everyone rushed to instead of Stitches.

Having a library not in anyway related to that to me feels like a big pro.

I have found React Aria to be very good. I really like how its a set of hooks, a set of premade components using said hooks, and I like how you can choose bits of either approach for your own components. Some of the hooks are very useful.

So then why is it posted to a vast audience like HN?

I can feel the AI in the text.

I think the posts main mistake is expecting the reader to care about or know this author.

But most repos are over ~700MB. Surely a DVD and if not, why not?

Also seems to be a lot of paranoia in here, GitHub posted it: https://x.com/github/status/2072801888525840476

For me it’s the font. I don’t enjoy reading prose in a code font.

It all makes sense when you understand that this is deliberate, to crush the economy and innovation.

This is probably the most batshit insane insecure advice I've ever read on Hacker News ever. And everyone is wondering why NPM based attacks are so prevalent? Advice like this is being followed.

> Or perhaps everyone moves to some hot-new-AI-first-forge, and then we go through the same cycle of enshittification in 10-20 years.

I don't think it would take years for an AI first platform to enshittify, it would be instant.
