I would think that it scales, but that effectively practicing "highly skilled, non-naive good faith communication" is very difficult, and requires a lot of practice and honesty.

It starts with not assuming bad faith from the other side.

Trying to adapt your communication strategy depending on the profile of the other side is not really "good faith". The goal is to train _ourselves_ to look at reality in a less biased, personal way. Wanting to max out every opportunities precisely tends to distort reality.

This is the kind of comment a very boring person would make

I'd suggest you try meditation. It does not bring you instant happiness, but slowly brings about a sense of wisdom and peace that really resembles long-term happiness

> we also do have a strange narrative surrounding exercise and weight loss that I bought into

This narrative is pushed by the fast and highly-processed food industry. MacDonalds is sponsoring sport events with that very narrative : "morbidly-obese children of 8 should just do a bit more sport"

So sad to see a somewhat wild area got uglied with a shiny, propane-powered mansion. Poor birds will just fly away from this spot

It seems you are over-generalizing. Maybe people are not like you.

> People will absolutely leave your company if they think they can get paid more elsewhere.

Maybe you will. Maybe they won't. Everyone has his own bar for "enough" money. For some there is no such bar.

Why are you so agressive to the comment you're responding to ? Why do you refuse it the benefit of the doubt ?

I think both you and the guy you replied to are right. It is just 2 aspects of life.

What matters is how do we want to live life ? Do you want to accept that everything is pre-decided, and that we are puppets to our own biases, or do we want to believe that the power of our destiny is in our hands, that we change in every fleeting moment, and we can decide to change for the better version of ourselves ?

Because what you believe influences deeply what you become.

For those interested in the flow state, I became convinced that this is the kind of state achieved while practicing Zazen meditation :

At one point, the only activity of being sit is the one necessary to reach the flow state.

As you're speaking from your own experience, have you already worked in an Amazon warehouse ?

> people die during work, and it doesn't indicate any wrongdoing on any part.

Yes this may be true, but it is not relevant to the article content, where clearly it seems the working environment is at play.

And given the history of Amazon mistreating its workers, it is very hard to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Would you maybe like to elaborate on what was the details of the "guided" aspect of your sessions ?

To me, this simply shows how inequal the american society has become, and how the stock market amplifies it.

You can have an impact on the real economy with stocks. Look at what happened with GameStop. But that impact is done and decided by the wealthiest, who will reap the benefits of it.

But if you live paychecks by paychecks, having no money to put into stocks, you just suffer the consequences of this impact.

In my experience, it helped me be better comfortable around others.

Both having it easier to send good energy to people I liked, and not caring so much about being judged by others (less useless self-deprecation).

But everything else is _never_ the same. Once you're paid more, you move into a bigger house, have more needs, and without knowing it you're just as tight on money as you were before.

But then you just have more stress at work, and you just can't quit that easily bc there arent so many jobs that pay as much as this one...

Just to provide the other side of this general advice, that is really everywhere, but rarely delivers in regards to happiness.

If you're open to try new approaches, meditating may help.

I too plead guilty of not having at all a deep expertise in this area.

But this makes me think of the myth of AI achieving "General Intelligence", ie an intelligence adapting to life and all its messy complexity, like humans do.

Everybody thought it would be a piece of cake in the 1970s, and then the science just didn't followed.

Now with neural networks, and GPUs, this myth is back on the table, but all researchers in the field continue to claim "AI is nowhere near General Intelligence"

_barely_ here embodies imo the difference between knowing theoretically "yeah I can do some bad sometimes", and really feeling it in your guts, or your heart, rather than your head.

Wisdom comes when feeling who you are, not having some distant idea about who you are

Try using reason to explain the taste of an apple to someone who has never tasted it.

LSD alone does not create any violence, it does not bring any evil into your mind from the outside.

It mostly shows things that usually stay in the unconscious part of our mind. It is more like a lens than a seed.

Of course Barely being able to contain violence is concerning, but let's face it, it is a daily struggle for a LOT of humans. Our good intentions dp not always weigh up when for example we are starving to death. Anger, greed or hatred, are some of our common struggles, but most of the time they stay hidden in our subconscious, bc we do not like to see ourselves as persons able to perpetrate violence.

But only when we see it (it requires honesty, not necessarily lsd xD) and we resolve to work on it, can we really grow.
