I prefer the smaller form factor. I'd like to move to a more secure/privacy conscious OS, so I am thinking about switching to this iPhone. Currently using a Pixel 3, I like the phone and well embedded in Google's ecosystem. Wondering how hard it'll be to switch over
I feel like you've hit the nail on the head. I remember growing up; I'd have long conversations on the landline and it never really felt burdensome.
With Zoom, Facetime etc, it's hard to gauge who's talking to who. Side conversations within groups are impossible. You also can't get a feel over another person's body language.
The unfortunate reality is that most users don't care for security. Google can continue to get away with only 3 years support of security updates. Another reason why I am considering going back to an iPhone.
I've been working as a Principal Engineer for the last year. This experience is similar to what I've experienced. Coordinating across teams, help unblocking coworkers, distributing knowledge etc. I've worked with the same company for the past 3 years, and as a result, I know the historical decisions etc. Unfortunately, as a result, I am spending less time refining my craft and coordinate business needs with technical solutions.
From an organizational standpoint, I believe I add much more value in this role compared to strictly writing code. Unfortunately, the skills you learn tend to be localized to the place you are working at, and are not really transferable.
It's been a good experience, and I've grown my soft-skills as I've had to handle different scenarios.
Also, sometimes, its not worth bringing up issues - someone could really just be having a bad day.
