But AFAICT the gov does not employ them, at least not at scale, so don’t worry. I don’t believe actual mind reading device will ever exist, the closest will be like a synthetic / robotic AI brain with the same abilities as human psychic. If you say no because you want to protect the privacy of your users you’re contradicting yourself and if you say no because you want to protect the privacy of your company information which makes you money you’re contradicting yourself. Either way I think it’s pretty clear that this statement is just a hypocrisy designed to support the business activity of getting people to give over information for free to other people who can make money from that information.

It seems the distinction still remains between Inga and Otto in other words between the mind in our heads and the mind in our devices because for what’s in our heads we can always choose whether we want to tell others or not but for our devices even if we set our privacy settings we lose control of choice over who to share that information with as soon as we tell the cloud about it
Completely agree. Even the simple act of noticing people rather than ignoring as if they’re not entities is so important. Dont feel bad about looking at people who are different if you see someone disabled just look at them. that’s very human. In The good way.
Have some empathy. This person has been like this for far longer then you just walking by them. They’re so into how they are they got over the embarrassment of being themselves along time ago. You presuming they be embarrassed to be seen is putting onto them some feeling you don’t know they have. You’re probably just projecting your own embarrassment. But just look at them.
If you need another reason consider that after the second world war men who were really messed up physically simply would never go outside. They didn’t want to be seen. If someone’s outside don’t assume they too embarrassed to be seen. Don’t feel bad about looking just look.
Aren’t some of these things actually good? Preserving social harmony. Lean into it more. It’s a job it doesn’t matter so much. Adapt yourself to these values and enjoy your time more. Being in another culture you get the chance to do things their way so try it. Give you a chance to maybe see that the things you think are so important don’t actually matter. Maybe you can have a better time and enjoy your life more if you just go along with the way that everyone does them there.

A useful Corollary being that identity politics, in another words convincing people to identify with increasingly smaller and more specific groups, and getting them to fight amongst themselves, in other words trying to increase their identities to include some more things, is the perfect way to keep people from thinking clearly about real issues. A useful way to keep the population on the back foot in a democracy keep them fighting about emotive issues rather than thinking clearly about substantial one, and divide the market into small sections to make it easier to direct messaging to appeal for votes.
